A human-scale city conducive to creativity
Châteauroux offers a calm and inspiring environment, perfect for focusing on your artistic projects.
A medium-sized city in the heart of France, it offers peaceful moments to create, all while remaining connected to the resources of big cities.
Its balance between accessibility, cultural life, and proximity to services draws an ever-increasing body of art students.
Easy and accessible transportation
Situated across from Châteauroux’s train station, you are about 2 hours from Paris. This allows you to easily commute to internships, professional interviews, or concerts.
Locally, the Horizon network offers 100 % free bus rides, facilitating commutes between your housing, shops, cultural spaces, and activities surrounding the campus.
Easy to find and affordable housing
In Châteauroux, the cost of living is particularly affordable for students. You can find a studio apartment or shared housing for 250 to 400 € per month, which is significantly lower than the cost of a big city.
The EICMI will lend support in your housing search by providing you with contacts of local landlords, offering information on available financial aids (CAF, APL), and offering advice to help ease your move.
A cultural life animated by Festivals
Throughout the year, you can attend several festivals and cultural events :
- Châteauroux Film Festival
- Festival Darc (World dances and music)
- Festival BulleBerry (comic books)
- l’Équinoxe Program (national theater)
These events deepen your artistic training and expose you to new aesthetics and collaborations
A dynamic neighborhood around the campus
Within walking distance, you have access to :
- A multimedia library
- An independent bookstore
- Restaurants and cafés
- A supermarket
- Green spaces to relax
In close proximity, you will also find cultural spaces (cinema, performance hall, rehearsal studios) which promote interactions and artistic projects.
The EICMI Cinema Club
In partnership with the Apollo/Équinoxe national theater, we organize a cinematography season focused on the role of film scoring.
The Apollo Theater, located just 5 minutes’ walking distance from campus, is a historic cinema with 328 seats, showcasing independent films, retrospectives, short films, and documentaries.
You can attend screenings, masterclasses, and meet with composers, directors, music supervisors, editors, and producers in relation to your program.
